Jimmy Butler amped up his discontent with the Miami Heat during his postgame media availability after his team was defeated by the Indiana Pacers by a final score of 128-115.
“I want to see me get my joy back from playing basketball,” Butler said. “And wherever that may be, we’ll find out here pretty soon. I want to get my joy back. I’m happy here… off the court. But I want to be back to someone dominant. I want to hoop and I want to help this team win. Right now, I’m not doing that.”
Butler was asked if he could get his job back with the Heat.
“Probably not,” replied Butler.
In December, ESPN reported that the Heat were willing to listen to trade offers on Butler. On Christmas, ESPN then reported that Butler preferred a trade from the Heat but that he hadn’t requested one.
Butler’s displeasure is believed to originate from Miami’s refusal to offer him an extension. Butler can become a free agent this offseason.
