The Miami Heat are seeking a quality player or multiple quality players to help them this season as they evaluate trade offers on Jimmy Butler. Miami also doesn’t want to take back any long-term salary for the 2026 offseason unless it is for an All-Star talent.
With the Heat yet to receive any offers they are strongly considering, they are operating under the expectation that Butler will play for them again at the conclusion of his seven-game suspension.
Butler is on a $48.8 million salary for this season and holds a $52.4 million player option for 25-26. The Heat could ultimately decide not trading Butler and waiting until the offseason to resolve the situation is more favorable than any of their offers by the trade deadline.
Butler is primarily disappointed by Miam’s decision not to offer him a two-year, $113 million contract extension this past offseason. That contract would have run through the 26-27 season.
