Near the end of the Miami Heat victory at the Houston Rockets on Sunday, chaos broke loose. Amen Thompson of the Rockets and Tyler Herro of the Heat were jawing at each other before Thompson threw Herro to the ground. Heat guard Terry Rozier III then jumped on Thompson, while Jalen Green of the Rockets went after Rozier.
In the end, Thompson, Herro, Rozier and Green were all ejected. Rockets assistant coach Ben Sullivan was also ejected for unsportsmanlike behavior towards official Marc Davis during the fray.
Rockets coach Ime Udoka and guard Fred VanVleet had been ejected previously for arguing with Davis over a missed timeout signal that resulted in a Houston five-second inbound violation. According to Davis, VanVleet made contact with him while arguing the call, which resulted in the ejection.
Last week, the NBA suspended Naji Marshall and P.J. Washington of the Dallas Mavericks and Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns for their actions during an on-court altercation. It’s expected that the Rockets and Heat will be facing multiple suspensions and fines as a result of Sunday’s dust-up, as well.
