With tomorrow’s game between our Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans, I posted my usual two Phinsider question(s) of the day posts this past week. Below are the questions and some of your answers-
If you could steal any player from the Houston Texans roster to place on the Miami Dolphins roster, which player would it be and why?
phinfan413 would like to steal nearly half a starting roster worth of players.
Cj Stround; Tunsil; Mixon; Scruggs; Patterson; Shaq Mason; Tytus Howard; Anderson Jr; Hunter; Stingly Jr
finfanfromsiam just wants a serviceable linebacker who knows how to tackle.
LB!! or tackling dummy seeing as how we forgot how?
DesperadoJV wants the big defensive end.
Will Anderson Jr.
GateDolph wants to trade out Grier. I have to agree with Gate.
GM
Dominick.1384 wants a linebacker or a safety that’s on IR.
Can we get Tunsil back so we can retrade him for all those picks again? lol…. But I wouldn’t mind Henry To’oTo’o (I have him on my fantasy team only way I know how to spell his name) or Jalen Pitre
herbert pollack wants a new starting quarterback.
CJ Stroud
A) What will the final score be in this week’s Miami Dolphins game against the Houston Texans?
B) What other predictions do you have for the upcoming game against the Houston Texans? (stars of the game, etc.)
darryldunphy sees a blowout loss behind an offense that can’t effectively run the ball and a defense that can’t stop teams in short-yardage situations.
Probably on the short end of a 31-13 type of game…
Tua is attempting too many passes because we can’t run it. The offense still can’t figure out the answers in short-yardage situations, and we suck on first down.
Defensively we don’t really pressure great, we don’t tackle, and our pass defense is available for any team to set a record or do something they haven’t done in recent times..
Oh, and the special teams is brutal..
So..I don’t think this one is going to be real close..
Go Phins
62Lou sees this as a prove-it game for the Phins, which they will most likely lose.
This is ANOTHER “prove it” game for McNerd boy – CAN HE COACH A BETTER GAME AND BEAT an over .500 division leader?
This, against a real good defense (#2 in sacks and #2 in INTs) We need a great gameplan.
Can MMD come up with something? Their pass rush is no joke, and we’re in trouble if T-Rex doesn’t play LT, I doubt Paul is ready for this team’s front line.
Our Defense must play a lot better (DBs ? where are you) and the DC must prepare and motivate his unit. Miami needs FIRE and a little bit of anger I think.
We can get this done…..BUT….. I still fear a loss 31-23.
daytonadolfan thinks the Dolphins are going to drive him to drink again. I’m sure he’s not the only one.
Score: 27 -24 Fins……………prediction: I will start drinking again!
herbert pollack predicts a loss by a touchdown margin.
31-24 houston
Mr.Grinch correctly says that Miami needs to play better than last week if they hope to pull the upset tomorrow.
All I know is Miami better play better than they did against the jets. Tied with the colts, 2 games out of the playoffs with 4 games left. If they pull off a miracle, they get to play either in buffalo or Pittsburgh in freezing weather in January..Grier probably keeps his job, not really sure if he has a clue what he is doing. Another season of disappointment, not a cheery looking next couple of seasons. We aren’t going to get easier schedules forever, and we will continue to be stuck in mediocrity. Other than that, life is great
phinette predicts a win despite another unimpressive day in the run game.
Phinette, the optimist, is predicting a 27-24 hard-fought victory. Tua will have another impressive outing, but the run game will be underwhelming. Defensively, we will give up a few big plays but make a key, late fourth-quarter stop.
DolphinsKings1 has Miami winning, along with his usual comprehensive predictions.

MiMiami says it’s all over.
Good team, division leader, on the road. Miami will lose by two scores and their season is cooked.
Tua2HillWaddle is bringing the positivity!
I am going to go the exact opposite direction of what ANYONE expects. The Dolphins win in a blowout…42-17. Everything works and the defense plays lights out – sacks galore, picks, fumble recoveries etc. Stroud and company can’t get anything going. We rest starters in 4th, otherwise the Texans only score 7.
USMCFinzFreak has CJ going off and beating the Phins convincingly.
Dolphins 17 Texans 30. CJ Stroud will light up the Dolphins D and throw for over 350 yards. Tua will be sacked 3 times and limited to 150 yards passing. Sorry for the doom and gloom, but this team does not play well against teams with winning records.
Spok507 is going to remain optimistic.
I’m going to predict Stroud trips over his shoe lace in warm ups, spraining his ankle and Houston has to go with Davis Mills, who isn’t prepared and throws 3 INTs. The defense remembers how to tackle, and the offense scores enough to win. 24-17 Dolphins. Im remaining optimistic.
SlayerNation1 believes in the Kevin Harlan effect.
HOU 34 – MIA 27 (Kevin Harlan/Trent Green again!)
A snapshot of what Miami would look like in a fair weather playoff game. HOU coming off a Bye. The main issue is HOU YAC with their TEs and WRs and overall misses tackles of Mixon. Watching this Defense’s tackling “technique” is vomit inducing. Look for the same open Receivers, two-hand touch tackling and once they do ground a player, Holland jogs up to the pile at the end to give the illusion He was going to tackle. Tua will need a serious plan to get the ball out with their pass rush. Offense keeps it close, but the Defense only has 3-4 professionals.
dedstrk316 isn’t buying your optimism but is happy seeing it all the same.
Dolphins will lose. I’m happy to see all of the optimism in the predictions though.
cyberflea will go out on a limb and predict a win for the Phins.
Oh boy….here I go again, thinking the Dolphins will defeat a playoff caliber team. The Dolphins rarely beat the better teams in the league on the road. Texan’s defense has given up the most TD’s this season, however they have held opposing QB’s to the lowest passing %. The Dolphins have to get the running game back on track and control Texan’s pass rush. Dolphins defense better improve their poor tackling and safeties are very concerning or else it could be a long day. Achane rushes for over 100 yards for the first time this season and Tua tosses two TD scores although he is due an INT. Dolphins front is the key on defense as the unit has to shut down Mixon and pressure Stroud. Going out on a limb and I hope I get to keep that limb cuz I need it….Dolphins win a close game 27-23.
Yarganaught has Miami coming out guns a-blazing resulting in four-point win.
Fins have nothing to lose, so they go out aggressive with Hill and Waddle. As mentioned by Cyberflea below, the Texans allow a bunch of TDs and are pretty good at shutting down the short dinks and dunks. Miami has a 2 TD lead going into the Half… Let’s just hope the Defense can keep that lead.
Miami 28 – Texans 24
There are a lot of optimistic predictions and a bit of doom. I don’t know where I fall, but I am not confident in a win with the big man possibly being out tomorrow. I hope I am wrong and that our Dolphins somehow show the very best version of themselves tomorrow, whatever that is. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to read and answer our question of the day posts. Please stop in tomorrow at game time to join us in our live game thread to follow and discuss the Dolphins @ the Texans with your fellow Phins fans.
