Odell Beckham Jr. continued his free-agent search by visiting an AFC contender.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the wide receiver was at the Miami Dolphins’ team facility on Thursday morning. Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reported Beckham’s planned meeting with Miami on Wednesday night.
Beckham missed the entire 2022 season recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl triumph. He concluded a lengthy free agency by joining the Baltimore Ravens.
The three-time Pro Bowler enjoyed a modest rebound last season, catching 35 of 64 targets for 565 yards and three touchdowns. For the first time since 2019, Beckham cleared 100 receiving yards in a Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
But Beckham had a quiet postseason, tallying 34 yards in two games. The Ravens officially released him last week after restructuring Beckham’s contract to spread out the dead cap money he’s owed.
Miami would represent an intriguing landing spot for OBJ.
The Dolphins are hardly desperate for playmakers after accruing an NFL-high 401.3 yards per game last season. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle formed one of the game’s most dangerous receiving duos, each exceeding 1,000 yards in 2023.
Beckham would give Tua Tagovailoa a No. 3 wide receiver with big-play upside. The 31-year-old wouldn’t need to assume a heavy burden in his 11th NFL year,
However, Beckham may not land a big contract from the Dolphins. According to the Miami Herald‘s Barry Jackson, conversations with another free-agent wide receiver fizzled because they were too “cap conscious” in negotiations.
