The Miami Dolphins are not for sale, regardless of how much money is thrown at team owner Stephen Ross.
According to USA Today, Ross received a $10 billion offer for control of the Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium. Although that’s life-changing money right there, he turned down that offer.
The reason Ross rejected this offer is because he “wants to keep the assets in his family.”
If Ross accepted this offer, that would set the record for most-expensive sale in NFL history. The Washington Commanders were sold for $6.05 billion in 2023.
The timing of this report isn’t a coincidence. On Sunday, Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix will take place at Miami International Autodrome, which was built around Hard Rock Stadium.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali applauded Ross for embracing the event. At the very least, it makes Hard Rock Stadium a more appealing venue than it already is.
“Miami joining Formula 1 has been huge for the sport in the United States, and the vision and enthusiasm Stephen Ross and Tom Garfinkel have for the event is incredible,” Domenicali said.
Ross purchased 50 percent of the Dolphins in 2008. He acquired an additional 45 percent of the team the very next year.
As of right now, it doesn’t sound like the Dolphins will have new ownership anytime soon.
