The Miami Dolphins are stepping into some very unfriendly confines for this weekend’s NFL Wild Card game.
Not only are the Dolphins facing the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl champions, at Arrowhead Stadium, a notoriously tough place to play, but they’ll be doing so in sub-freezing temperatures.
According to Dolphins beat writer David Furones of the Sun-Sentinel, current weather forecasts are projecting Saturday night’s game to be the coldest in the history of the Miami franchise.
Temperatures at Arrowhead Saturday could dip down to zero, or even a couple of degrees below. The current Dolphins record for coldest game also came against the Chiefs back in December 2008.
Forecasts indicate the Miami Dolphins are bound to play their coldest game in franchise history in Kansas City on Saturday night.
Their previous coldest game, by temperature at kickoff, was 10 degrees, also at KC on Dec. 21, 2008, a 38-31 Dolphins win.

Miami had a chance to avoid this. All the Dolphins had to do was beat the Buffalo Bills at home in Week 18 and they’d have wrapped up the AFC East and secured a playoff game at Hard Rock Stadium.
Instead, they will take their depleted roster halfway across the country for a battle in frigid conditions. Tough scene.
Chiefs-Dolphins will kick off at 8 p.m. ET Saturday on Peacock.
