Mike McDaniel has been successful during his tenure with the Miami Dolphins but that doesn’t mean he’s been perfect.
According to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, he thinks McDaniel could be on the hot seat since Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has yet to win a playoff game since he bought the team.
“If the Dolphins don’t deliver in 2024, only Ross knows what he’ll do. But he’ll be closing in on another birthday when the next season ends. And he might decide, ‘I’m about to be 85 years old and I want results now.’ Especially with coaches like Carroll, Bill Belichick, and Mike Vrabel available,” Florio writes.
The Dolphins have been a playoff team in each of McDaniels’ two seasons at the helm but have lost in the wild-card round both times. They lost to the Buffalo Bills last season before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs this past season.
They’ll have higher expectations for the 2024 season, especially with the talent they have on offense.
However, if they can’t get over the hump, it could lead to questions being asked regarding whether McDaniel is the right guy for the job.
In two seasons, McDaniel has a 20-14 record.
