During the late stages of the Dolphins’ blowout win over the Jets, linebacker Jaelan Phillips left the field with an Achilles injury.
“It’s his Achilles – doesn’t look great, but we’ll find out more tomorrow,” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said. “Yeah, I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but not fired up about it.”
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, their worst fears were confirmed on Saturday.
The MRI results for Phillips showed that he suffered a torn Achilles. His season is officially over.
An MRI confirmed what was apparent Friday: Dolphins’ LB Jaelan Phillips tore his Achilles and is out for the season. Brutal.

This is a huge loss for Miami’s defense. Although he has missed three games this season, Phillips racked up 43 tackles, 6.5 sacks and two pass break-ups for the Dolphins.
With Phillips out for the season, Emmanuel Ogbah will be asked to step up. The former second-round pick has 10 tackles and four sacks this season. He actually forced a fumble on Friday against the Jets.
