Week 16 of the 2024 NFL season ends this evening with the New Orleans Saints traveling to much colder confines to play the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin. The temperatures in Green Bay will hover around freezing throughout the day before dropping into the 20 in the evening, with mixed rain and snow throughout the day. With their 5 and 9 record, the Saints are already out of the playoffs. New Orleans has lost two of their last three games, including last week’s one-point loss to the Washington Commanders, 20 to 19. With their solid 10 and 4 record, the Packers have yet to secure a playoff spot but currently sit in sixth place in the NFCs playoff standings after yesterday’s games. Green Bay is coming off a 30 to 13 win last weekend over a solid Seattle Seahawks team.

—My Pick: I am never going to be eager to pick the favored team when the line is more than a two-touchdown margin, but this game is a bit different. The Saints have nothing to play for and gain more by losing at this point, needing to rise up the draft boards as high as possible. The Saints also play in a domed stadium in a warm weather state and will have to play outdoors in cold and adverse conditions this evening. On the other hand, the Packers are a solid team with everything to play for and are very used to playing in cold and adverse conditions. My pick is for the Packers to cover this evening, even if just slightly.
