A few weeks back former All-Pro kick returner Braxton Berrios went on his girlfriend Alix Earle’s podcast and dismissed reports that he was being let go by the Miami Dolphins. Today, the team made it clear that they still have plans for him.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Berrios is returning to the Dolphins on a one-year deal. Per the report it’s a $3 million deal.
“Free-agent WR Braxton Berrios is re-signing with the Miami Dolphins on a one-year deal worth up to $3 million. Berrios’ agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey confirmed the deal,” Schefter wrote.
Berrios was the Dolphins’ primary kick and punt returner in 2023 and solid if unremarkable as a receiver in the team’s high-octane offense. He led the team in the return game and had 27 receptions for 238 yards as a receiver.
Berrios rose to prominence in 2021, when he earned First-Team All-Pro honors for the hapless New York Jets. He led the league in yards per punt return that season and was one of the lone bright spots on that team.
More recently, Berrios has become a very popular figure off the field for his relationship with Earle. Ironically, his relationship with the social media star has probably gained him even more haters than he already had in the NFL (and he had no shortage of those).
But at 28 years old, Berrios still has plenty left in the tank.
Will Berrios have a good year with the Dolphins next season, or will it be another unremarkable one?
