It wasn’t a very fun Thanksgiving night game against the Green Bay Packers for the Miami Dolphins and their fanbase. After finding themselves in a two touchdown hole, the Dolphins tried their best to claw their way back from the 14 points deficit, but ultimately fell short on the road, in the cold, against a quality opponent — falling by a score of 30-17.
Miami has yet to win a game this season against a team with a winning record — a theme that continues for this middling franchise. The Dolphins only had one such victory last year — a Christmas Eve victory over the visiting Dallas Cowboys. In fact, Miami also only had one victory over a team with a winning record in all of 2022 as well — a week three win over the visiting Buffalo Bills in the sweltering heat of a September South Florida day.
While the team as a whole played rather poorly, one player did his best to lead the squad in the frigid “Frozen Tundra” of Lambeau Field.
Miami Dolphins Week Thirteen MVP – Tua Tagovailoa
For all of the haters out there, no, Tua Tagovailoa didn’t play a perfect game. There were a couple of throws in the first half that the young quarterback would have liked back, but all in all, considering his track record in cold weather games, Miami’s franchise signal-caller had a very, very solid outing.
Tagovailoa finished the contest with 37 completions on 46 passing attempts (80% completion percentage), 365 yards passing and two touchdowns. He added six yards rushing on two attempts. His quarterback rating on the day (114.2) would rank behind just MVP candidate Lamar Jackson (117.9) of the Baltimore Ravens on the season.
Since his return from injury six weeks ago, Tagovailoa has been playing his best football as a professional. There’s no question that as long as he stays healthy, despite his lack of flashy, highlight reel athletic feats, Miami’s QB1 is one of the top quarterbacks in the National Football League.
Now, if only they had a quality GM who could build a proper team around him…
