Former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum was at the desk for ESPN’s Get Up today and he had some trade suggestions that made fans wonder how he ever got to be a GM in the first place.
Taking to X after his appearance on the show, Tannenbaum recapped the trade suggestions he made. They included Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2nd round pick, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the New York Jets for linebacker CJ Mosley, and Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and a 2nd round pick to the New York Giants for quarterback Daniel Jones.
Tannenbaum also had the temerity to ask “Who says no?” at the end of his post.
Well, as it turns out the answer is nearly everybody would say no. He’s been getting crushed for the last hour-and-a-half for his trade suggestions:
“Hard to believe you did not last as an employed GM,” one user replied.
“This is why you’re not a GM anymore,” wrote another.
“I didn’t realize CTE was effecting ex-FO exec’s… (checks account) Oh wait, it’s just TannenBUM,” a third wrote.
Tannenbaum served as general manager of the New York Jets from 2006 to 2012. While he did draft some superstars such as Hall of Fame cornerback Darrelle Revis and All-Pro center Nick Mangold, a lot of the trades he was responsible for were so bad that the team was forced to oust him after the 2012 season.
Some of those trades include trading up for Mark Sanchez in the 2009 NFL Draft and trading for Tim Tebow in 2012.
