Jaelan Phillips has spent the last three seasons with the Miami Dolphins after playing his final collegiate year for the Miami Hurricanes. The linebacker has probably encountered some strange Florida stories, but none are likely to top what he shared Thursday.
Phillips posted a video on Instagram of an iguana sitting in his toilet. He couldn’t explain how the reptile found its way into the bathroom.
“Man, this is some Florida s–t if I’ve ever seen it,” Phillips said. “How the hell did he get in there? That man is bathing. In my toilet. And he is not a pet. I don’t know where he came from.”
Phillips said he had to spend $150 for an exterminator to remove the animal. He wondered if the iguana had established residency in his garage or emanated from the sewers “like a Ninja Turtle.”

“You must be evicted my friend,” Phillips narrated. “You are not in the right place.”
Phillips provided one more update on his Instagram Stories page.
“I feel violated,” he wrote. “Gotta check the toilet every time I go now.”
The 2021 first-round pick will set his sights on the gridiron, which hopefully hosts no reptiles, after missing nine games last season. Phillips still tallied 6.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits, and an interception in his limited playing time.
The Dolphins exercised their fifth-year option on Phillips last month, so he’ll have at least two more seasons of weird Florida happenings.
