The Miami Dolphins wasted no time getting an extension done with wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins have agreed to a three-year, $84.75 million extension with Waddle.
Waddle’s contract with the Dolphins includes $76 million guaranteed. It’s a nice payday for the Alabama product.
“The deal makes Waddle one of the league’s top five highest-paid receivers,” Schefter said. “WME Football negotiated and confirmed the deal.”
This extension for Waddle could impact the wide receiver market. Talented playmakers like Brandon Aiyuk, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb are all hoping to break the bank before Week 1 arrives.
Waddle has been great for the Dolphins since joining the franchise in 2021. Over the past three seasons, he has hauled in 251 passes for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Even though Waddle missed three games due to injury in 2023, he still had over 1,000 receiving yards.
Waddle actually holds the record in Miami for most receiving yards through the first three years of an NFL career. It’ll take a while for someone to break that record, especially since the Dolphins are set at wide receiver.
