The Miami Dolphins claimed cornerback Ryan “Bump” Cooper Jr. off waivers, the team announced Monday.
Cooper, 23, began his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent last spring. While he appeared in one game as a practice squad elevation, Baltimore cut ties with Cooper in November.
The Seattle Seahawks scooped up Cooper later that month, and he spent the remainder of the year on the team’s practice squad. After the season, the Seahawks re-signed Cooper to a futures contract, but the team waived the cornerback on Friday.
Miami is thin at the cornerback position after parting with starter Kendall Fuller earlier this month to save salary cap space. While the Dolphins have seven-time Pro Bowler Jalen Ramsey on one side of the field, there’s not much else at the position. Former second-round pick Cam Smith, 2024 undrafted find Storm Duck, and pending restricted free agent Kader Kohou round out the depth chart.
