The Miami Dolphins forced a three-and-out to start their Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers, but almost everything went wrong from that point in a 30-17 loss.
Green Bay’s first punt of the game was muffed by rookie returner Malik Washington, setting up the Packers for an early touchdown and 7-0 lead. The Dolphins then wasted their first offensive possession by picking up three penalties, including a 15-yard personal foul called on Jonnu Smith. The first half continued to snowball from there.
By halftime, the Packers had a 24-3 lead and they tacked on a field goal in the third quarter that pushed the Dolphins’ deficit to 24.
Miami showed signs of life when it put together a touchdown drive and punctuated it with a two-point conversion. But a subsequent offensive drive got to the Packers’ 1-yard line and couldn’t cross the goal line. While the Dolphins eventually got one more touchdown, it was far too little, too late.
With the loss, the Dolphins fell to 5-7 and will need a lot of help to stay alive in the AFC playoff race. Here’s how Miami’s Thanksgiving loss at Lambeau Field went down:
