The San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins kick off later this afternoon. We take a look at the inactive lists for both teams.
The Miami Dolphins host the San Francisco 49ers in a late-afternoon game on Sunday. The Week 16 showdown was expected to be a marquee showdown between playoff-bound teams from each conference. Instead, it is a game matching up to 6-8 teams in the midst of highly disappointing seasons.
Both teams had paths to make the postseason this year, but any stumble – including in today’s game – will eliminate them from making it. So much help is required, it is unlikely either San Francisco or Miami will be headed to the playoffs this season.
As for the game itself, the Dolphins will be heading into it without star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. The 2021 sixth-overall draft pick was listed as doubtful on the final injury report as he deals with a knee injury and now he has been ruled out. Also inactive are cornerback Ethan Bonner, linebacker Channing Tindall, linebacker Mohamed Kamara, offensive lineman Andrew Meyer, and wide receiver Dee Eskridge.
Eskridge, like Waddle, was listed as doubtful with a knee injury on the final injury report. The Dolphins elevated Erik Ezukanma from the practice squad to provide depth at the position.
The good news for Miami is wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was questionable on the injury report with a wrist injury, is available for today’s game.
San Francisco’s inactive players list includes quarterback Joshua Dobbs, left tackle Trent Williams, running back Isaac Guerendo, tight end Jake Tonges, defensive lineman Khalil Davis, cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, and defensive lineman Robert Beal, Jr. Williams (ankle) and Guerendo (foot/hamstring) had both been ruled on out on the injury report, while Beal had been questionable with an ankle injury.
The 49ers will have defensive end Nick Bosa, who had been questionable with issues to his hip and oblique.
Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. Eastern this afternoon.
