In 1991, Michigan wide receiver and return ace Desmond Howard won the Heisman Trophy. The following year, Miami quarterback Gino Torretta won the prestigious award. They were side-by-side at tonight’s Heisman Trophy ceremony and people were instantly baffled.
At one point during tonight’s ceremony, the cameras panned to the two former Heisman winners, who are both the same age separated by only a few months. But to most fans who saw the two side-by-side, it looked as though Torretta was decades older than Howard.
“These guys won the Heisman one year apart,” Patrick Netherton noted while posting a photo on X.
Fans quickly noticed and started coming up with their own funny reasons for why Torretta looked so much older than Howard despite being several months younger:

“Gino looks like he served in ‘Nam,” one user replied.
“Gino Toretta looks like he’s been under a heat lamp for the last 30 years,” wrote another.
“Gino look like he won in 1954,” a third wrote.
Some people just age differently from others.
