Miami gets blue-chip CB Wyman to flip from Georgia and commit to the Canes
The Miami Hurricanes continued to build what will hopefully be an elite 2026 recruiting class on Saturday evening when Jonesboro (GA) 4-star DB Jontavius Wyman flipped his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Miami Hurricanes!

Standing 5’11” 170lbs, Wyman is a dynamic athlete who plays both ways for Jonesboro High. He was committed to Georgia on defense, and has been recruited to Miami on defense, so that’s where you should expect to see him develop and play moving forward.
Like Miami’s last 5 commits in the class of 2026 — iOL J.J. Sparks, OT Joel Ervin, RB Javian Mallory, OT Ben Congdon and CB Jaelen Waters — Wyman’s commitment to Miami came on the back of an unofficial visit to Coral Gables. Wyman has been on campus a couple of times this spring, and the coaches have been heavily pursuing him for a while. Their efforts were rewarded when Wyman flipped on Saturday evening.
On the field, Wyman is a dynamic athlete who stars on offense and defense for Jonesboro. He’s got good height at 5’11”/6’0” and has a positive wingspan. He pairs that with sudden, twitchy athleticism and blazing speed. Wyman affects games on offense, defense, and special teams as a game-breaking return man. He adds a level of athleticism that has been missing at cornerback for quite a while, and that’s exciting, to be sure.
A 4-star recruit on the 247sports composite rankings, Wyman flipped his commitment to Miami from Georgia, and has offers from plenty of notable programs, including Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Nebraska, and Texas among many others.
Wyman’s talents can’t be contained in a single highlight. So here are both of them.
Offense (with some sprinkled defense and returns)
Defense
Wyman is the 9th commit in Miami’s 2026 recruiting class. He joins LB Jordan Campbell, CBs Camdin Portis and Jaelen Waters, QB Dereon Coleman, OT Ben Congdon, RB Javian Mallory, OT Joel Ervin, and iOL J.J. Sparks as commits in this class.
Welcome to the U, Jontavius!
