Miami completes the flip for 6’6.5” 330lb OT from Louisville
The Miami Hurricanes continued to build what will hopefully be an elite 2026 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon when Fort Myers (FL) 3-star OT Joel Ervin committed to the Canes!
BREAKING: Fort Myers (Fla.) OL Joel Ervin commits to Miami over Florida, Florida State, USC, Georgia, and others.

A massive 6’6.5” 330lb Tackle, Ervin fits the prototype at this position perfectly. He’s yet another big bodied lineman with length, strength, and incredible potential to add to the future of Miami’s vaunted offensive line.
Like Miami’s last 3 commits in the class of 2026 — RB Javian Mallory, OT Ben Congdon and CB Jaelen Waters — Ervin’s commitment to Miami came on the back of an unofficial visit to Coral Gables. Ervin was among the many recruits on hand for Saturday’s Spring Practice session, which included the first scrimmage of the spring, and the star studded recruit pool party. After that day at the U, Ervin saw enough to finally commit to the Canes.
Ervin is a player whose recruiting profile has risen over the course of his junior season, and figures to continue to skyrocket through the remainder of this cycle. The massive lineman committed to Louisville, a team that did a great job of early identification and recruitment of the talented lineman. Ervin committed to Louisville last March, and stayed committed to them until about a week ago. Miami had already been heavily pursuing Ervin before his decommitment, and once he was back on the market, Miami pushed hard for his commitment.
On the field, Ervin is a monster. He’s every bit of his listed 6’6.5” 330lbs, and is routinely seen physically dominating his opposition. There are very few HSFB players who can match up to Ervin’s size and strength, and there will be few who can handle it at the college level, either. He plays LT at the HS level, and could reasonably stay there in college as well. He could also flip to RT in the future, but he’s absolutely a Tackle, and has the arm length to support staying at that position moving forward.
Ervin is the first 3-star rated player committed in Miami’s 2026 recruiting class. That distinction should be short-lived, as Miami believes Ervin is a high 4-star/5-star type talent, and I fully expect his recruiting ranking to skyrocket here shortly. Even if you’re only focused on recruiting stars (which matter, but aren’t everything), just one look at Ervin would make anyone understand why Miami likes him so much and worked so hard to get him in this class.
As stated in the tweet up top, Miami got Ervin over Florida, Florida State, Georgia, USC, and from his previous commitment to Louisville.
Ervin is the 7th commit in Miami’s 2026 recruiting class. He joins LB Jordan Campbell, CBs Camdin Portis and Jaelen Waters, QB Dereon Coleman, OT Ben Congdon, and RB Javian Mallory as commits in this class.
Welcome to the U, Joel!
