Miami begins to build the RB group int he 2026 recruiting class with this local standout
The Miami Hurricanes continued to build what will hopefully be an elite 2026 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon when West Boca (FL) 4-star RB Javian Mallory committed to the Canes!

A powerfully built 5’11” 205lbs, Mallory has prototypical size for a running back. He’s already near the top of where his physical development should be, and that’s something that could help him push for playing time early in his collegiate career.
Like OT Ben Congdon and CB Jaelen Waters before him, Mallory’s commitment to Miami came on the back of an unofficial visit to Coral Gables. Mallory was among the many recruits on hand for Saturday’s Spring Practice session, and saw enough to finally commit to the Canes.
On the field, Mallory has been doing work for many years. He got varsity snaps at Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Westminister Academy as an 8th graders, posting 90 carries for 631 yards and 4 TDs. After moving to West Boca, Mallory continued to perform well as a freshman. 91 carries for 499 yards (5.5 ypc) and 6 TD. Also caught 9 passes for 227 yards and 4 TD. Mallory even played some defense, and had 14 tackles.
Mallory had a breakout season for West Boca as a sophomore. 131 carries for 1,415 yards (10.8ypc) and 18 TDs to go along with 22 catches for 438 yards and 6 TDs receiving. Following that, Mallory battled some injuries as a junior, but helped lead West Boca to their first-ever State Championship. In 6 games, Mallory had 67 carries for 676 yards (10.1ypc) and 10 TDs. 10+ypc for consecutive years playing HSFB in South Florida in a high classification? Yeah, that’ll work.
Many top teams around the country were (and are) recruiting Mallory to get him to join their programs. As noted in the tweet above, Mallory picked the hometown Hurricanes over Clemson, Alabama, and Florida, among others. That is a testament to Mallory’s talent and potential on the field.
This is yet-another big recruiting win for Miami. Keeping a local standout such as Mallory home is foundational for the Canes football program, and this is a job well done by RB Coach Matthew Merritt. Miami continues to add elite talent in the RB room, and Mallory is no exception.

Mallory is the 6th commit in Miami’s 2026 recruiting class, a group that are all blue chip talents. He joins LB Jordan Campbell, CBs Camdin Portis and Jaelen Waters, QB Dereon Coleman, and OT Ben Congdon as commits in this class.
