There hasn’t been much good news surrounding Miami quarterback Emory Williams since the severe arm injury he suffered late in today’s game against Florida State.
Speaking to the media after today’s 27-20 loss, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said that Williams was taken to a nearby hospital with what was described as a “significant” injury to his left arm. The Hurricanes head coach praised Williams for putting together what was such a gutsy performance prior to the injury.
“[He] was a little bit nervous early then settled in, made some big throws, some gutsy runs as well — particularly the one he got hurt on,” Cristobal said, via ESPN. “He made a spectacular throw to Jacolby and made some other key throws, some others you’d like to have back. Played well.”
Williams suffered the injury on a fourth-and-two run inside the final two minutes. As Williams stretched his arm and dove for a first down, several defenders landed on him and he looked seriously hurt while laying on the ground. An air cast was placed on his left arm, and he was carted off the field.
Tyler Van Dyke finished the game for the Hurricanes.

An injury like that will almost certainly end an otherwise promising freshman season for Emory Williams.
Williams got his first start last month in a win over Clemson. He completed 72.7-percent of his passes for 151 yards and a touchdown in the win.
We’re wishing Williams all the best in his recovery.
