Another player gone from Miami’s recruiting class
More recruiting news as signing day approaches!
Per multiple reports from CaneSport — On3’s Miami Hurricanes site — and Adam Lichtenstein of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Birmingham (AL) Parker 3-star DB Timothy Merritt has been dropped from Miami’s 2025 recruiting class.
Miami has moved on from DB commit Timothy Merritt. Has been trying to leverage Tennessee and Miami had enough of the drama

I can confirm that defensive back Timothy Merritt will not be a part of the Hurricanes’ signing class tomorrow, per a UM source. The Hurricanes “moved on,” the source said.
Merritt, a three-star prospect out of Alabama, had been committed since June. @CaneSport reported 1st.

Per the embedded tweets above, Miami has “moved on” from Merritt who, according to CaneSport, was leveraging Miami to try and get an offer from Tennessee. Whether that happens or not is inconsequential to Miami, but we’re not sticking around to be played.
This is the 3rd player to leave Miami’s class in the last 2 days. Former commits S Hylton Stubbs and LB Gavin Nix flipped their commitments to Florida and Oregon, respectively. Those players left of their own accord. Merritt is being dropped, so it’s not the same, but that’s a distinction without a difference at this point.
Miami now has 20 commits in the 2025 recruiting class. Several targets are still in play, but with the way things are going, I’m not optimistic about the prospects of closing on those elite talents.
National Signing Day is tomorrow. We’ll have more on Miami Recruiting when it happens.
