As he should be.

Zero stars aren’t supposed to be Heisman Finalists.

The star QB from West Columbia, TX re-wrote the Miami Hurricanes record book in his only season in Coral Gables. In leading Miami to a 10-2 record, Ward went 293 for 435 passing (67.4% completions) for 4,123 yards with 36 TDs and 7 interceptions. He’s also added 196 yards and 4 TDs rushing, and 1 catch for 7 yards and 1 touchdown. Those numbers eclipsed the records for passing yards, passing touchdowns, and total touchdowns in a single season for the storied Canes Football Program.
Ward is one of 4 finalists for the award. Joining him are Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, Colorado 2-way star Travis Hunter, and Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel.

This is worthy recognition for Ward’s elite season. He’s the first Miami Hurricanes player to be named a Heisman Trophy Finalist since RB Willis McGahee and QB Ken Dorsey both made the final group in 2002. They finished 4th and 5th, respectively.
Miami has 2 Heisman Trophy winners in program history. QB Vinny Testaverde won in 1986, and QB Gino Torretta won in 1992. Ward looks to join that group with this year’s trophy.
The Heisman Trophy ceremony will be held on Saturday night at 8pm. It will be televised on ESPN.
Congratulations, Cam. We’re all rooting for you!
