Miami gets the best QB in the portal yet again
After watching the second half of the bowl game, it was clear that Miami needed to go out and get a QB to play for this team in 2025. For the second year in a row, Mario Cristobal got the #1 QB in the transfer portal when Georgia Bulldogs QB Carson Beck announced his transfer to Miami on Friday afternoon.

The 6’4” 215lb Beck started for Georgia in each of the last 2 years. In that time, he compiled a 23-3 record while posting 7426 yards and 52 TDs and 18 INTs. Very good numbers for a top team, to be sure.
A Jacksonville, FL native, Beck was a player that Miami recruited out of HS. The former Mandarin star elected to go to Georgia instead, and developed well, and played well for the Bulldogs in the last 2 years.
This is a big get for Miami, a team that was in desperate need for a starting QB this year. Beck has the build, talent, and high level experience to be a quality player for Miami. Let me say this clearly now: Beck is NOT Cam Ward, so I’m not expecting that. But he’s a very good starter at the college level, so while it might not be “best season a Miami QB has ever had” quality, I’m expecting very good play from him in his year with the Canes.
Beck will need to recover from surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, which was injured in the SEC Championship Game, but all reports seem to indicate that shouldn’t be an issue.
All in all, this is another home run transfer addition at this key position for Miami. First, it was D’Eriq King. Then, it was Cam Ward. Now, it’s Carson Beck.
Let’s keep the momentum going!
Do you like the addition of Carson Beck? Hate it? Other? Let me know.
