Another bye week for the Canes, so let’s see what the rest of the country is up to today
Welcome back to College Football Saturday!
While your Miami Hurricanes are 9-1 and on their second bye week of the year (the CFB calendar has an extra week in it this year so each team gets 2 bye weeks), there are games to enjoy today.
While you watch games from coast to coast today, hop in the comments and talk about the action as it happens.
Here in week 12, there are conference games all over the schedule, mixed it with a couple late-season buy games against FCS teams (really SEC? ya’ll should be ashamed of yourselves for this). I’ll post a couple highlight games in daytime window, but the godfather of the CFB watch grid, Jason Kirk, posts his full list on his newsletter, which you can read here, and that should be something you’re checking out weekly. Anyways, a couple games to keep an eye on in the early window:
- #3 Texas at Arkansas, Noon, ABC. A hated border rivalry, this is a game that Texas can’t take too lightly. Arkansas is a physical team with a dynamic, dual-threat quarterback who could cause problems for the Horns. I expect them to win, but they’ll need to be on their A-game here.
- Utah at #17 Colorado, Noon, FOX. I’ve been critical of Deion Sanders’ recruiting and roster building, but this star-led team plays HARD for their coach, and are pushing for a Big 12 Championship Game appearance. This is also the shell of the Utah teams we’ve known in past years so it shouldn’t be competitive for more than a half.
- #20 Clemson at Pitt, Noon, ESPN. One of the biggest ACC games of the week, this game is one for Canes fans to watch. Miami has the tiebreaker over Clemson if both teams ended with 1 conference loss, so Pitt could do Miami a favor by finding a great performance and knocking off the Tigers at home.
- Boston College at #14 SMU, 3:30pm, ESPN. SMU is the only ACC team undefeated in conference play. So, by definition, this is a big game.
- #22 LSU at Florida, 3:30pm, ABC. Another hated rivalry game, can LSU rebound after a big loss? Or will Billy Napier get a job-saving win?
- Virginia at #8 Notre Dame, 3:30pm, NBC. I would personally love it if Virginia followed up their win at Pitt with a win at Notre Dame. I don’t know if it will happen, but I would like it.
That’s the early schedule. Again, for the full list, click the link above.
Let’s talk some football until we’re back for the primetime window later.
