Miami poached a local recruit from Ohio State on Monday night.
Jordan Lyle, a four-star running back who played high school football in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Miami.
“What stood out about Miami is that they treated my family extremely well and that plays a big factor in my decision,” Lyle told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Also the weather in Miami is something I’m accustomed to. Ohio State is a great program and coach [Tony] Alford is an outstanding person and coach but those two things are what weighed Miami over Ohio State.”

Lyle tallied 1,553 yards and 22 touchdowns during his senior year. The 6-foot, 180-pounder ranks as the class of 2024’s No. 11 running back on 247Sports.
After offer receiving offers from other programs including Florida State and Oregon, Lyle committed to the Buckeyes in April. Ohio State still has two other freshmen running backs heading to Columbus next year, including four-star prospect James Peoples.
Lyle, however, will stay closer to home and play for the Hurricanes.
Miami went 7-5 in Mario Cristobal’s second season as head coach. The Hurricanes averaged 176.75 rushing yards per game behind the backfield trio of Henry Parrish Jr., Mark Fletcher Jr., and Donald Chaney Jr.
Like Lyle, Fletcher flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Miami last year. He turned 102 carries into 512 yards and five touchdowns during his first season at The U.
Miami is currently preparing for a Pinstripe Bowl matchup against Rutgers at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 28.
