The Canes will be well represented in Indianapolis
On Monday morning, a plethora of Miami Hurricanes players were invited to the NFL combine. The premier showcase for draft eligible talent, the NFL Combine takes place in Indianapolis. NFL teams send multiple staffers to evaluate workouts, coach prospects, and interview potential additions to their rosters.
This year’s NFL Combine will be held from Thursday, February 27th to Sunday, March 2nd. And, with the amount of Miami players invited, there will be something to watch every single day.
Here’s the list of Miami players who were invited to the Combine:
- QB Cam Ward
- RB Damien Martinez
- WR Xavier Restrepo
- WR Jacolby George
- WR Sam Brown
- TE Elijah Arroyo
- OL Jalen Rivers
- DL Tyler Baron
- LB Francisco Mauigoa
- K Andres Borregales
In the past, several fringe players (such as George or Brown) would have been left off the combine invite list. But, with Miami’s offense being the top unit in the country, and with QB Cam Ward being the odds-on favorite to be the first quarterback drafted (if not first player drafted), the opportunity has been extended to more players than Miami has recently had invited to this event.
Apart from the 10 players being invited, the biggest storyline here is “will Cam Ward participate?” The star signal caller elected not to attend the Senior Bowl (where participation in the game is mandatory for attendance; i.e. you can’t go to the Senior Bowl and only do interviews), so it remains to be seen what he’ll do at the combine.
Many top QBs have attended the combine but elected not to participate in on-field drills, saving their throwing for their on-campus pro day or private workouts with selected teams. Which way will Ward play things? We’ll find out soon.
Congratulations to the 10 Canes invited to the Combine. This is your moment. Go make that money!
